Less than a week away from what these girls have dedicated they life’s too. For the majority of players, if fortunate to be selected for their National team, this opportunity to play in a World Cup only happens once in a life time. Like the Olympics this is the pinnacle of competing in one’s sport.
Emma Jensen, NZ Black Ferns halfback, is competing in her 4th World Cup plus has the distinction of holding aloft the World Cup 3 times already – will she and the Black ferns gain a 4th?
England will always be strong and feature prominently in the tournament having come close in the 2010 Cup. England have upped their preparation and are looking very powerful.
Ireland – 6 Nations Champs in 2012/13 have to rate their chances of going far. They play will passion and a real desire to work hard as a team plus are superbly led by captain Fiona Coughlan.
Australia has put some quality resources lately into their Women’s game and are hoping to continue their improvements in the game. They have had success in the 7’s game plus their League team are current World Champs.
France have made the semis in the last 3 tournaments so are hoping to go one better – they had a very good recent 6 Nations.
Canada could be a ‘dark horse’, they are a team that has developed strongly and their recent games in NZ showed they will be very competitive. A well balanced squad that enjoys playing and touring together.
